AK Olimpija hand in hand with AŠ 2005 – The first drivers are already registered, although the deadline is only on 22nd of August – The track and logistics are ready
Ljubljana, 23 July – Although the annual race of the biggest international motor racing event in Slovenia, the 24th GHD Petrol Ilirska Bistrica, will start in just over five weeks, organizers from the AK Olimpija and co-workers from the Auto Sport Federation of Slovenia (AŠ 2005) after a large amount of work done with pleasure and happy expectations look to the first September weekend.
On the traditional track from Il. Bistrica to Šembije (5010 m) will be on Saturday, September 1st, first for training, and on this afternoon, on September 2nd, at the penultimate race of the 2018 season for European hill climb titles. Hill Climb races are the oldest racing category under the auspices of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), while GHD Petrol IB is a high-level automotive event with the longest, as many as 23 years (!) uninterrupted competition series in Slovenia.
Honorary Board 24. GHD Petrol IB 2018 – President: Prof. dr. Igor Lukšič; members: dr. Peter Gašperšič, Minister of Infrastructure; prof. dr. Maja Makovec Brenčič, Minister of Education, Science and Sport; Emil Rojc, Mayor of the Municipality of Il. Bistrica; Tone Anderlič, President of the AŠ 2005.
In last years the AŠ 2005 has settled as an organizer, last year already in cooperation with AK Olimpija. This year they replaced the role. The club from Ljubljana took over the tasks of the organizer, and AŠ 2005 withdrew into the role of assistant. The progression of “normalization” is also reflected in the composition of the organizing committee, in a kind of “personal union” that ensures continuity and structural strength. Continuity also reflected the composition of the honorary committee, which has been led by prof. dr. Igor Lukšič.
Organizing Committee – President: mag. Dagmar Šuster, members: Oto Giacomelli, Samo Golobič, Marjan Gregorič, Brane Črešnjovec, Katja Ješe, Vlado Krivec, dr. Franko Krbavčič, Janez Milavec, Barbara Poberžnik, Ferdo Poberžnik (director of the race).
“As in all the last years, during the preparations for this year’s race, the greatest attention was paid to improving the quality of the track and safety. The track between Il. Bistrica and Šembije is also considered as one of the safest among the 12 races for the EHC. On the websites of AŠ 2005 and GHD Petrol IB, as well as on social networks, we are constantly monitoring the turbulent events in racing for the EHC (FB-AŠ 2005, GHD Petrol IB 2018, Hill Climb Slovenia, Race Report, Instagram – AŠ 2005 etc, op. .). Let me not forget about online ticket sales for both days of the event for an extremely favorable half price that will last until August 20, “said the chairman of the organizing committee Dagmar Šuster a few days ago and rounded up:
Petrol d. d. is the traditional title sponsor of the annual biggest international motorcycle event in Slovenia, and among the sponsors, the event has also a true loyalty from GB Leasing d.o.o. and Geoplin d.o.o.
Although the application deadline will expire on August 22, the most enthusiastic contestants have already provided participation, which is a unique feature of the GHD Petrol IB event. The list of registered organizers is constantly updated and is on display on both websites, where the “seventh force” can also keep up with events in the races for the EHC 2018. The 8th race of the EHC 2018 season on Dobšinsky Kopec just ended Sunday in Slovakia, which will be informed in detail by journalists and the media house by a special message. Before the event in Il. Bistrici there will be two more – (9) in Limanow in Poland (July 29th) and August 19th (10th) in Switzerland (St. Ursanne-Les Rangiers).
Latest news from European Hill Climb Championship:
Limanowa – It seems that Italian Merlin, after many years of effort, approaches at the title of the European champion in Hill Climb races. He reliably managed the 9th race of the season in Poland and set a new track record. In the absence of the famous compatriot Simone Faggioli, who did not appear for the third time in a row, in category II, he rivaled all rivals with the most persistent pursuitor, also the compatriot Andrea Bormolini.
The latter, with the Osello PA20, continues to dominate competition in the CN Group II category, while the rules allow him to continue to follow Merli with a minimal difference and awaits his potential malfunction.
A surprising turning-line was precisely the result of such rules in category I. Again, the fastest Frenchman Pierre Courroye, despite the triumph over the lack of competitors, only scored half the points from the 25 points that belong to the winner of the group. In the overall classification of this category, he was replaced in the first place by Lukaš Vojaček, who in his group A is also a series of victories.
By the end of this year’s championship, only the last quarter of the series will remain, the peak of which will be from the Slovenian point of view, the penultimate race of the season EP 2018 – GHD Petrol Ilirska Bistrica the first September weekend (official training on Saturday, September 1, Sunday competition, 2 9. 2018). Everything related to the biggest auto sport event in Slovenia is on the websites of AŠ 2005 and GHD Petrol IB. In front of her, a race in Switzerland (St. Ursanne – Les Rangiers) will take place on August 19th. The championship of the old continent in the oldest motor sport category will end on September 16 in Buzet in Croatian Istria.
